Abstract

Market sanitation is an effort to supervise and improve the market environment closely related to environmental pollution, disease transmission, or other health issues. The purpose of this research is to determine the environmental health of markets in the working area of the Ternate City Health Center. This study uses a survey method, observations are carried out using sanitation inspection instruments for public places. The observed variables are market environments including clean water, public toilets, wastewater disposal, waste management, counseling facilities, and firefighting equipment. Based on the results, there is 1 public tap available that can be used but is mossy. There is 1 functional public toilet and 1 non-functional one, although the public toilet is clean despite an unpleasant odor. Public toilets can only be used on market days (Wednesday and Saturday). Wastewater disposal channels are only located in front of the main market entrance and its surroundings do not have wastewater disposal channels. There are 2 garbage bins in different locations, but scattered garbage is still found due to the inadequate capacity of the garbage bins. There are no counseling facilities or evacuation route signs, only signs directing to public toilets and no firefighting equipment available.
